A memoir site built
to sell — and to move.
Shopify Storefront checkout, Mux video, and a design that matches the emotional weight of the book.
The full platform.
A memoir doesn't sell itself the way a product does. Every design decision — typography, pacing, color — had to earn the reader's trust before asking for a purchase. We built a site that feels as considered as the book itself.
Checkout lives entirely on the site — cart, product selection, and Shopify payment processing all happen without redirecting the user away. Custom cart UI, custom product display, zero Shopify branding. The purchasing experience matches the design of the rest of the site.
The author's personal video message plays inline — no YouTube controls, no "Up Next" sidebar, no buffering on slow connections. Mux Player handles adaptive streaming with sub-second load. The video feels like part of the page, not an embed.
Readers who aren't ready to buy join a launch list. Emails stored in Supabase with an automated welcome sequence that mirrors the memoir's voice — no generic drip campaign. The first touchpoint feels personal.
An excerpt section lets visitors read the opening pages before deciding to buy. Typeset to match the book's interior — restrained, unhurried. Converts hesitant visitors better than any product description could.
Restraint as a design decision.
Most book marketing sites overcommunicate. Pull quotes everywhere. Blurbs stacked ten deep. A countdown timer. We did the opposite — large type, long pauses, no visual noise. The design earns the reader's attention rather than demanding it.
- →Custom serif type selection matched to the memoir's period and tone
- →Muted palette — no aggressive color hierarchy pushing the buy button
- →Section pacing modeled after the book's own rhythm
- →No pop-ups, no sticky banners, no urgency tricks
SEO for the long tail.
Memoir buyers search by subject, by author name, by emotion. Structured data tells search engines exactly what this is.
What it runs on.
Writing a book? We'll build the site
that sells it.
Pre-order platform, launch list, author video, excerpt — everything a memoir or debut needs to convert.
